When I was asked if I could shoot Josee for her portfolio, I was pretty excited! I half debated between indoor with studio lights and outdoor with natural light. Half cause as you can see from the photos below, I went with outdoor and I’m glad I did. I like to keep things simple and spontaneous, and I really wanted to showcase Josee as a beautiful, young, confident, casual, fun ten year old that she is. Then I asked her dad: Urban or rural? Definitely urban, a total city girl! And I knew just the right location. With her dad around, Josee was pretty comfortable in front of the camera. And I think you’ll agree, there is no doubt the camera loves her! Here are a few of my faves from Josee’s shoot:

Renu and Jaidyn

When my best friend, Inoka, told me that her sister, Renu, was having a wedding reception in Ottawa after tying the knot in Dominican Republic, I immediately booked my weekend off from shooting weddings. I wasn’t going to miss this party! And what’s a party without a whole bunch of family and friends from in, around and out of town? Made for a great crowd. With yummy food everywhere. Music you can really dance to. Yes, even with a sari on! And speaking of sari, I headed over to Renu’s “camp” before the party to get fitted with a nice navy blue one that Inoka brought for me (thank you again). I hung out with the ladies – the shower was non stop, the hair dryer and curling iron were in heavy rotation, there was a hint of hair spray and nail polish in the air, and a bit of steam from all the delicate saris. The house was packed with people and I had fun taking photos of everyone getting ready! For this post though, I wanted to dedicate it to these two beautiful ladies – Renu and and her beautiful daughter, Jaidyn. Check out a few of my faves!

Mike and Marlene

Mike and Marlene’s story started almost two years ago. And it wasn’t long after Mike met Marlene that he realized he’d met his match. The girl he wanted to marry. His plus one. The one. Flash forward to their wedding day…The happy couple were surrounded by the people they love, their wonderful family and all their friends. I was honoured to have been chosen to photograph their special day and I wish Mike and Marlene the absolute best! Here are some of my faves.

Mike and Marlene are a super fun couple who are actually getting married this weekend! For their engagement shoot, we tossed around a few ideas but it was Marlene who came up with the brilliant idea to go for a hike up in the Gats. Man with the fiddle and black flies aside, it was the cutest cabin I’ve ever seen! We soon forgot the dark clouds and forecast of showers and moved on to another location for a bit of a picnic. That is, until we started thinking about food and was tempted by chip wagon fries (yes with malt vinegar and ketchup…mmmm). I had fun with these two and I can’t wait to see them on their big day. Meet Cerella’s big sister. Beautiful, smart, observant, quiet Christabel. I say quiet because we didn’t really talk all that much when we hung out at the shoot. She followed me and my camera around with her curious eyes and I took photographs of her while we sat in comfortable silence. Something tells me she might do some photography or modeling when she grows up! Check out a few of my faves.
